Whaler's Moon
In late March, there is a conjunction in which the morning star, Venus, is above the crescent moon. This "whaler's moon" was a sign for the Ozettes and other Northwest Coast whalers to begin their rituals and preparing their gear for the whaling season. I have tried to communicate this idea with images of whales and canoes against the ocean and the whaler's moon in the night sky.
