Cape Flattery

Cape Flattery was named by Captain James Cook and noted by many of the early explorers of the Northwest Coast. Its companion, Tatoosh Island, was the site of a traditional Makah village and an important halibut fishery.

This composition connects the water born in the clouds to the sea below, following its journey from sky to ocean. In turn, the sea sustains the abundant life of these waters. Cloud, rain, river, and sea become part of a continuous cycle—a connection between the heavens, the land, and the living world of Cape Flattery.
